I am indulging myself to share something that is very dear to my heart. 20 years ago today we received the phone call that this year , 1800 people hope to receive.
A family, who was going through a most horrible loss had allowed their loved one to be an organ donor. That was the start of a journey that for our whole family was humbling , surreal, exciting , happy , devastatingly sad and every emotion in between as my late husband Chris received an extraordinary gift of a new set of lungs when he underwent a double lung transplant @stvincentshospitalsydney. When I talk to people about transplantation firstly there are so many myths (we watch far too much American television ) but secondly and most importantly So many people say to me Oh I am an organ donor , I have ticked the box on my drivers licence but that is not the way it happens. Please take the time to go to the Organ Donor Register @donatelifetoday
and register your intent but most importantly have the conversation with all members of your family so that they know what your wishes are as they will be asked the question on one of the most devastating days of their lives. Please think about being an organ donor and register @donatelifetoday tonight whilst I have a quite toast to my husband and his amazing donor family as Heaven knows we need the organs here! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
